The Approach.
The complete cost picture of I.T software and infrastructure resembles a puzzle.
With a puzzle image of a grand house with many rooms, could better value be obtained instead from a reasonable house, using a hotel for extra guests when necessary?
Similarly, whilst it is attractive to have a complete puzzle with straight sides, if the image can be recognised without every detail visible could savings be made by removing some edge pieces ?
Also , maybe some central pieces of the puzzle could be removed all together, just to make an appearance from time to time when needed ?
With costs under examination the processes they support can be put into context.
For example, this may establish how much it costs to pay each invoice or to assemble each months management accounts.
Business management can now be given an opportunity; to decide how much they think of the costs and whether they seem good value ?
Armed with a view of existing application costs these can be compared to what other businesses are paying, and what other similar systems may cost out to.
At Tacklers we know of projects that try to achieve the same but get bogged down in detail, become too complicated and fade off the corporate radar.
Our Agile approach with strict timeboxed sessions has a guillotine effect , we finish on time, in time, with results.
